Is Bottled Water Better Than Tap? Discover The Truth Here
Is bottled water better than tap you may ask, and you may be surprised to hear that neither is a sound choice these days.
There are dangers on both sides, and it is hard to see through all the hype to get to the truth. The bottled variety is convenient, but a test showed that people cannot taste the difference between the two, and bottled still has many impurities in it including chlorine.
The question should not be is bottled water better than tap, but which one is the lesser of two evils?
Remember, there are no government standards that require bottled water to be any purer, better or safer than tap. And 60-70% is exempt from FDA regulations as it is bottled and sold in the same state.
In terms of the environment, here in the US we use and dispose of over 60,000,000 plastic bottles every day, causing untold damage to the environment. It also costs more per gallon than gas for our cars!
So now for the tap variety! Though it has improved in recent times, don't believe all the hype you see in the media about how great American water is. A recent study found there to be over 2000 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer in what we drink. Samples of pesticides and herbicides were present in 27 out of 29 cities tested.
This is what I mean when I say that the answer to the question is bottled water better than tap, is that neither are good options.
Treatment plants still use chlorine, a major toxic substance itself, to disinfect the water, but the new problem of pharmaceuticals is too much for them to cope with.
Samples have found antibiotics, growth hormones and even caffeine when tested. These are in small amounts but as we drink so much on a daily basis, experts are very concerned at the long term health effects. So is bottled water better than tap when it comes to contamination, then yes it has fewer toxins in.
The only way we can be safe in the knowledge that our water is safe is with a home filtration system.
Good ones, like carbon block filters, using a multi-stage process, will remove 99% of all contaminants, just check their performance data sheet to see exactly what they remove.
We have to safeguard our own health for now and for the future as the situation is not improving and we owe it to ourselves to do our level best to seek out the best product to achieve this.
Then the question is bottled water better than tap will become irrelevant to us!
